It becomes a heated argument where Herklès tries to tell Shoan she’s worth more than the Inquisition, only for her and Alcille to show that his rule in Bôme is also pretty worthless. Shoan is infected, meaning that any chance of her joining the Inquisitor has long gone out the door. Valente does an excellent job keeping things realistic when it comes to how those who are different are treated, as the the hateful majority continues to overwhelm those who have looked at the “Infected”.Ī conversation between Herklès and his guards Shoan & Alcille put that mentality into perspective. Alas, centuries of bigotry within the world still puts a target on Seth’s head. Considering that the Inquistion is witnessing Seth and Diabal fighting off the Nemeses, one would think that maybe they should ease off trying to capture them. It’s a situation that brings forth a conundrum for this universe. However, the time for catching up has to come later, as they attempt to fight off the Nemeses while dealing with the Inquisition. Turns out that the siblings have an extra little gift regarding their powers, one that could come in handy later during a bigger fight. After the rescue and an epic battle to escape, the two talk about their usage of Fantasia. There’s a lot to unpack in this volume of RADIANT, but what’s most important is the reunion between Seth and Diabal. Meanwhile, the Inquisition is close to finding our heroes. Meanwhile, Ocoho tries to keep her wits while going into rescue mode, both regarding the city folk and her friends. Doc is still with the folks tracking down Seth, while Mélie’s split personality causes her to have a major malfunction. Seth sets out to rescue his brother Diabal while Adhès and the Nemeses attack the Inquisition. For its fifteen volume, absolutely yes, the wait was worth it! It’s not because there’s a lot to go through it’s more due to the face that it takes forever for a volume to come out! Yet whenever Tony Valente’s series unleashes its next volume, I often wonder if the wait was worth it. On the back cover of Volume 8, we can see him younger, when he met Diabal.MANGA REVIEW | "RADIANT" - Volume Fifteen. Not much is said about him, except that Piodon was the one responsible for awakening his blackness and he was seen by Diabal fighting in a battle at Vivacyne. Mistaking Seth for Piodon, he attempted to kill him when they first meet. Diabal came out with significant physical and mental sequelae, and now is afraid of Piodon, to the point of not even trying to fight it. He says he was manipulated by Piodon, who taught him to use the Fantasia to resurrect this black force then led him to be tortured by the Inquisition. When this force takes over Seth, he loses control of himself and no longer distinguishes friends from enemies.Īfter that Seth is able to see Piodon in his "dreams" but, fearing the worst will happen, he asks Piodon to leave and don't ever come back. The intervention of Piodon awoke in Seth a kind of black and evil force with unknown origins. The young man accepts despite his skepticism, which he bitterly regret later. At their first meeting, he offers to awake Seth's consciousness of Fantasia, in order to duplicate his power. Seth doesn't know anything about Piodon and doesn't trust him. He also seems to agree about General torque ideology of changing the world on his own. Not much is known about Piodon personality, but he seems to be very interesting in learning what people fight for and who they are fighting for. His resemblance to Seth and his other supposed "brothers" is striking. He has a scar in cross shape on his forehead, whose origin is unknown. He also wears feathered gloves, although it's common knowledge that the infection allows him to cast spells with his bare hands. He is dressed in brown trousers, a waistcoat and a little cloak, and a messenger bag. He is dressed in a large black tunic and cloak, and wears the hood until the events of Rumble Town, where he reveals himself to Seth. Piodon's hair is loose and has little horns, just like Seth.
